Originally from the UK, Sophie Paskins moved to Canada in 2007. At age 17 she left school to study a two-year foundation course in Art and take her A-level Art and Craft, before attending the Surrey Institute of Art and Design to study one year of a three year BA (Hons.) in 3-D Design, Metalwork. In 2000, Paskins graduated from Birmingham Institute of Art & Design, with a 1st class BA (Hons.) in Management, Design and Communication. Most recently, she has established her own studio practice where her focus is on painting involving gestural mark-making, abstraction and the human figure. Sophie Paskins works currently as the Gallery Director for the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council in Nova Scotia.
